Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability that refers to a cluster of symptoms, resulting in expansive struggles, particularly reading, spelling, writing, and correctly pronouncing words. This can make it very difficult for students to succeed academically in the typical instructional environment. Dyslexia is a neurological condition caused by different wiring of the brain. Individuals with Dyslexia are often highly intelligent. They tend to be creative problem solvers and experts in their chosen field. Particularly in the areas of the arts, athletics, sciences, and business ownership. Dyslexic students benefit from Orton-Gillingham methods of tutoring.

Orton-Gillingham is a multi-sensory approach to teaching students to read, write, and spell.  This approach alternate between reading and writing the same sound. This approach uses a systematic and cumulative method to review and improve memory.  Learning to encode and decode simultaneously reinforces the information taught. Sounds are taught and reviewed until they become automatic.

Our goal is to pair each child with a tutor that best suites his or her needs and schedule. After the intake evaluation we can better determine which tutor your child will work best with. Online tutoring is virtually the same as in person tutoring, we continue to use multi-sensory methods which are beneficial for students with Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. The main difference between online and in person is our online students practice developing their typing skills, rather than handwriting skills. We have found online tutoring to be highly successful for ADHD students.
