Personalized One-on-One Instruction for Students Who Need More Support
Some students need more than additional practice to make meaningful academic progress.
At 3D Learning Experts, we provide individualized, one-on-one virtual instruction for California charter school students who are struggling with reading, spelling, writing, or math.
Our goal is to identify where a student’s foundational skills are breaking down and provide structured, systematic instruction that helps them strengthen those skills, build confidence, and become more independent learners.
When Traditional Tutoring Isn’t Enough
A student can spend hours completing assignments, receiving tutoring, or practicing academic skills and still continue to struggle.
That is often because the student needs more than help completing assignments.
They may need direct instruction in the underlying skills required to read, spell, write, or complete math successfully.

Our instruction is designed to determine what the student needs to learn and teach those skills systematically.
Academic Instruction Built Around the Student
No two struggling students have exactly the same learning profile.
Before recommending instruction, we begin by looking carefully at the student’s current academic skills.
Our 3D Learning Profile Assessment helps us identify strengths, areas of need, and the foundational skills that may be interfering with progress.
From there, we create an individualized instructional plan based on the student’s needs.
This allows us to move beyond a one-size-fits-all curriculum and provide instruction that meets the student where they are academically.
Reading & Spelling Instruction
Students who struggle with reading often need explicit instruction in how the English language works.
Depending on the student’s needs, instruction may include:
- Speech sounds
- Sound-symbol relationships
- Decoding unfamiliar words
- Word recognition
- Spelling patterns
- Reading accuracy
- Reading fluency
- Vocabulary
- Reading comprehension
We use structured, systematic instructional approaches including Orton-Gillingham and EBLI, selecting the approach that best fits the individual student’s learning needs.
The goal is not simply to help students get through today’s reading assignment.
The goal is to strengthen the skills that allow them to become better readers.
Writing Instruction
Some students have wonderful ideas yet become frustrated when they are asked to put those ideas on paper.
Writing instruction includes:
- Sentence construction
- Paragraph development
- Grammar and mechanics
- Organization
- Note-taking
- Outlining
- Essay development
- Editing and revision
- Turning ideas into organized written responses
Our instructors break writing into manageable steps, using IEW to help students develop a repeatable process they can use independently.
History Instruction
Our History instruction uses theme-based history courses to help students learn history while developing stronger writing, note-taking, organization, and comprehension skills.
We offer three history options based on the student’s approximate grade and skill level:
Ancient History — Approximately Grades 3–5
Students explore ancient civilizations and important people and events while learning foundational writing and note-taking skills. Lessons help students organize information, identify key ideas, and turn what they learn into structured written work.
Medieval History — Approximately Grades 6–8
Students study the Middle Ages while strengthening more advanced writing and note-taking skills. They learn to pull important information from source material, organize their thoughts, create outlines, and develop increasingly detailed written compositions.
U.S. History — Approximately Grades 9–12
Older students explore major periods, people, and events in United States history while developing higher-level writing and note-taking skills. Instruction emphasizes organizing information, summarizing source material, creating outlines, and communicating ideas clearly in structured written assignments.
Grade levels are approximate. We recommend the history course that best matches the student’s current academic skills and instructional needs rather than selecting a course based solely on enrolled grade level.
Math Instruction
Math difficulties are often connected to gaps in foundational understanding.
A student may understand a new lesson during instruction and then struggle to remember how to complete the same type of problem later.
Our math instruction addresses:
- Number sense
- Math fact fluency
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Fractions and decimals
- Place value
- Computation
- Mathematical reasoning
- Word problems
- Multi-step problem solving
We use visual, hands-on, and multisensory strategies to help students understand both how to solve a problem and why the math works, using programs such as TouchPoint Math, Times Tales, and Learn Math Fast, which was created by a homeschool mom.
More Than Traditional Tutoring
Traditional tutoring often focuses on helping a student keep up with their current curriculum or complete assignments.
Our approach goes deeper.
We focus on identifying and strengthening the underlying academic skills that may be preventing a student from making progress.
Instead of simply working at the student’s enrolled grade level, we meet them at their current skill level and systematically build the foundations they need to move forward.
The goal is not just to get through today’s lesson. It is to help students develop stronger skills, greater independence, and more confidence in learning.
No Additional Teaching Required at Home
For the subjects your student receives instruction in with 3D Learning Experts, parents are not expected to provide additional teaching outside of our sessions.
Because 3D Learning Experts provides the instruction for these subjects, parents do not need to teach additional lessons or assign additional work outside of our program.
Our instructors provide the direct instruction and guided practice your student needs during their scheduled sessions. There are no additional worksheets, lessons, or assignments for parents to teach between sessions.
This allows parents to step out of the role of teacher for these subjects while knowing their student is receiving consistent, individualized instruction.
The goal is to help students develop stronger skills, greater independence, and more confidence in learning without adding more academic work to the family’s schedule.
Progress You Can Measure
Families deserve to know whether instruction is actually helping.
That is why progress monitoring is an important part of our program.
We use assessment data, instructional observations, student performance, and benchmark measures to evaluate growth and determine whether instruction should be adjusted.
Our goal is measurable progress, not simply completed tutoring hours.
Convenient Virtual Instruction
All instruction is provided virtually in a one-on-one setting.
Students work live with an instructor from home using an interactive online learning environment.
Virtual instruction allows families to receive specialized academic support without adding another commute to an already busy week.
Students need:
- A desktop or laptop computer
- Google Chrome
- Reliable high-speed internet
- A quiet learning space
- A small dry erase board and dry erase markers *may be needed
- A document camera *may be needed
Supporting Homeschool and Charter School Families
We understand that charter school families often have unique educational goals.
Some families are looking for support in one specific subject.
Others need help rebuilding foundational skills before their student can successfully move forward with grade-level curriculum.
Our team works with families to develop an instructional plan based on the student’s current skill level rather than simply their enrolled grade.

Instruction is available during both daytime homeschool hours and select after-school hours.
Please note, rates are reduced during daytime hours.
Working With California Charter Schools
3D Learning Experts works with California charter school families using educational funding when approved by their school.
We have experience working with charter schools and educational purchasing processes, including purchase orders and vendor-funded instructional services.
Because each charter school has its own approved vendor policies, available services, funding requirements, and enrollment procedures, families should confirm we are currently an approved vendor with their school or request for us to become a vendor.

We begin with a FREE 30-minute Clarity Call to learn more about your student. We'll discuss what you're seeing academically, the support your student has already received, where they continue to struggle, and whether 3D Learning Experts may be a good fit.
Choose How You'd Like to Fund the Assessment
After your Clarity Call, the next step is the 3D Learning Profile Assessment.
California charter school families have two options:
A. Use Charter School Funds
Submit a request to your charter school to use available educational funds for the assessment. Approval and funding times vary by school.
B. Self-Pay for the Assessment
You can pay for the assessment directly and move forward with scheduling.
If you self-pay for your assessment, we'll apply a discount to your first month of tutoring.
This gives families the flexibility to begin the assessment process while still using charter school funding for ongoing instruction when available and approved by their school.
Complete the 3D Learning Profile Assessment
The assessment allows us to look beyond the student's grade level and identify their current skills, strengths, and areas that need additional instruction. The specific skills assessed depend on the subject or subjects being evaluated.
Review Your
3D Learning Plan
Following the assessment, we'll meet with you to review the results.
We'll explain:
- Your student's strengths
- Areas that need additional support
- The instructional approach we recommend
- Recommended lesson frequency
- Your student's personalized instructional plan
- The next steps for beginning instruction
You'll have an opportunity to ask questions so you understand exactly what we're recommending and why.
Begin Personalized One-on-One Instruction
Your student works individually with one of our learning specialists using instruction selected for their specific academic needs. Rather than simply following grade-level assignments, we meet students at their current skill level and systematically build the skills they need to move forward.
Monitor Progress
We continuously evaluate student performance and adjust instruction as skills develop. Progress monitoring helps us determine what is working, what needs to change, and what your student is ready to learn next. Let us know if you need samples to provide the charter.
